Professions of teachers are subject to specialisation of educational programs and are divided in the following groups:
- pre-school education teacher;
- basic education teacher;
- secondary education teacher;
- higher education teacher.
The list of teachers’ positions is divided in the following categories:
- managers (a director of an educational establishment, deputy director, etc.),
- senior experts (a basic education teacher, secondary education teacher, educational psychologist, social teacher, teacher – speech therapist, special education teacher, etc.)
- experts (a pre-school education teacher, basic education teacher, a hobby-club teacher, special education teacher, etc.)
- positions equal to a teacher’s position at an educational establishment (a concert master, school librarian, conductor, etc.).
Mandatory requirements for the education and professional qualifications necessary for teachers in compliance to teachers’ professions are defined by the Regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 347 “Regulations on mandatory requirements for the education and professional qualifications of teachers†dd. October 3, 2000.
A teacher is responsible for the improvement of his/ her professional qualifications by participating in programs for the improvement of professional qualifications amounting to at least 36 hours (total time) within a period of three years. A teacher may improve his/ her professional qualifications by participating A (36 hours) or B (72 hours) programs. The above programs are approved by the Ministry of Education and Science.
