Key qualifications: During the working career Roberts Kilis has been teaching courses at the high school, undergraduate and graduate levels on the subjects of Logic, Philosophy, Economic Anthropology. He has given presentations within the framework of the course Post socialist countries in Transition, ( course director Professor Caroline Humphrey), Cambridge University, Department of Social Anthropology,  Michaelmas Term 1997. He has been a visiting lecturer at Kalmar Baltic Business School (2004) and Izmir Ege University in 2007.  As part of his own academic career he has conducted short and long term field research projects.  He has conducted a year long fieldwork in Western Siberia (Omsk region) November 1996 till October 1997 with subsequent revisits in 1998 and 1999. As a researcher at the SSE Riga he has participated in the collaborative research projects both as a team member, a consultant and a project leader. He has organised three major international interdisciplinary conferences at the SSE Riga (1995 and two in 1998). He has been contracted to write a part of the Annual Human Development Report for the UNDP Latvia (1999) and act as a consultant for the civic education programme of the Latvia’s Adult Education Association, and for the Social Report 1999 of the Ministry of Welfare. He has also acted as a member of the international expert team for the Economics and Business Administration course programme accreditation in Estonia (1999), and consultant to the World Bank (2001, 2003, 2004) in developing the Country assistance strategy. From May through November 2000 he was a local expert in the Latvian National development plan team and for some time acted as its editor in chief. In 2003 he acted as a member of pre-referendum Working group to prepare Euro referendum Latvia. He has acted as a strategy consultant for the, Hanabanka Latvija (leading bank) and Bank of Latvia 2004 and 2006, and Latvenergo (energy monopolist) and State Inland Revenue Service in 2005. A Chair of the Editorial group developing Latvia’s Long-term Sustainable Development Strategy 2030, Ministry of Regional Development and Municipalities, Republic of Latvia, July 2007 – July 2010.  The Strategy has been shortlisted for final of the Reinhard Mohn Prize 2011. Since November 2008 has served as a Chair of the President’s Strategic analysis commission.
